Neck pain
Neck pain can start without warning, from sleeping wrong to twisting your neck in one direction too fast. Chiropractic care can help by realigning the spine, which restores normal motion in the neck.
Torticollis
Torticollis is a condition in which the head persistently turns to one side, often include muscle spasms on that side along with increased pain.
Headache/migraines – tension
Migraines – Pain caused by a migraine headache is usually described as throbbing or pulsing pain that is in one area of the head. TMJ pain/ Jaw pain

Thumb pain
Thumb pain may occur when you grip, grasp or pinch and object. Any type of force may cause increased pain, stiffness and swelling in the region.
Wrist pain (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be caused by the pinching of the nerves that travel through the wrist region. At times chiropractic can help by increasing the motion of the bones in the wrist and relaxing the muscles that may be constricting the area.

Elbow Pain / Tennis Elbow
Elbow pain can be caused by multiple issues but the two primary include overuse or trauma. Overuse may include placing stress on the forearm muscles which cause stress onto the tendons that attach to the bone. Repetitive motions may irritate the area from using a shears cutting hair, meat-cutting, painting, electrical work and other activities that require the constant gripping motion and/or movements.

Upper back (between shoulder blades)
This type of pain can be caused by joint dysfunction, muscular irritation, as well as, poor posture.
Shoulder pain
Shoulder pain may be caused by impingement, tendon tears, arthritis or even instability. Tight muscles may restrict the shoulders range of motion often limiting the movement when lifting or moving the arm. Chiropractors may help get down to the root cause of the shoulder pain.
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
This may develop when the joint is injured or painful where you aren’t moving it as you normally would. The shoulder joint will stiffen up causing a decreased range of motion and increased pain in the shoulder. According to the AAOS, it occurs in 2% of the general population.

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Is a condition caused by compression of the nerves as they pass through the armpit into the arms. Common signs and symptoms include: neck pain, shoulder/arm pain, along with numbness and tingling into the fingers.
Rib Pain

Lower back pain
Low back pain can range in intensity from a dull, constant ache to a sudden, sharp sensation, can be caused from heavy lifting, twisting or can start without warning. Acute low back pain in some instances can be a disruption in the function of the muscles, nerves, and spine. This may irritate the area and affect the way these components move and work together. Chronic low back pain may interfere with your daily routine, hobbies and work.
Sciatic Pain
Sciatica is a result of compression of the nerve root that extends from the spine into the buttock, down the back of the leg and at times into the foot. It can cause burning, shooting or tingling sensation at times. Low back pain can be involved as well causing a pinch or aching pain. If the nerve is severely compressed it will cause muscle weakness or numbness into the leg or foot.

Pregnancy
More and more women are discovering the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy. Our chiropractors at Southridge have been trained to work safely with pregnant women and we have tables designated to accommodate a pregnant woman’s body. Because of the changes from the increase in hormones, weight gain and postural shifting, pregnant women have an increased occurrence of sacral and pelvic subluxations. Therefore biomechanical imbalance when compared to the rest of the population. Also, the effect that a chiropractic adjustment has on the entire body and all of its functions by reducing stress on the nervous system, pregnant women may significantly benefit by having their spine checked throughout their pregnancy, optimizing health benefits for both her and the baby.
Potential benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy include:
- Maintaining a healthier pregnancy
- Reduce labor and/or delivery time
- Relieve back, neck and joint pain
- Possibly reduce the need for a cesarean delivery
The Webster Technique
This is a technique used on pregnant women with a breech baby. It is a specific chiropractic adjustment that many of the doctors at Southridge are certified in, and all are trained to perform, which removes intrauterine constraint, thus allowing baby to return to an optimal position, which is head down. It achieves this by reducing the effects of sacral and pelvic dysfunction and by reducing the stress to her uterus and supporting ligaments. In turn, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. It is a quick and painless procedure to perform and research supports that it is 82% effective in getting baby to turn on its own, according to The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics July/August 2002 issue. The number of visits required to get baby to turn can range from one to several.

Sports or Running Injuries
Injuries, aches and pains are commonly placed with sports along with running. These injuries are often caused by repetitive use such as throwing, swinging or bending. Chiropractic care can help relieve these symptoms by focusing on improving flexibility and pain free range of motion. Along with working on strengthening muscle imbalances while stabilizing the area in question. Treatments consist of chiropractic adjustments associated soft tissue therapies, strengthening and stabilization exercises. These are done to help the body heal and return to optimal function.

Arthritis and Joint pain
Arthritis is a wearing down of deterioration of a joint. A chiropractic adjustment helps to maintain the mobility that is left in the joint and therefore slow the rate of further degeneration. The adjustment may also offer temporary relief of the pain associated with the arthritis.
Scoliosis
Many people that have scoliosis suffer from aches and pains due to the pressure being applied on certain areas due to the curvature in the spine. Chiropractic care can help by decreasing the restrictions, therefore improving the natural movement of the spine. This will affect the way the stress is applied to certain points along the curve in the spine. This may help decrease pain temporarily or long term depending on the severity of the curve.
